This series of images emerged spontaneously. While attending a Ballroom event in Rotterdam with my partner and friend Em, I decided to capture her preparation for the show. My aim was to document the process and the meticulous work that goes into the performances. I wanted to open the backstage door and reveal what a night like this truly looks like when the cameras and live streams are off.

Our backstage was a beautiful five-star hotel room in the city center, offering a stunning view of the neighborhood rooftops. With the windows closed, the city's noise faded, replaced by the soulful melodies of Erykah Badu playing in the background. The atmosphere was perfectly set for the energy to build, readying us for the moment we would rush out to dive in the crowd.

This series of images captures not just the meticulous preparation, but the anticipation, the growing excitement, and raw beauty of a performer getting ready to rock the stage.
